Radio Gets Wild Welcome Burly
Clyde
With the proliferation of bands in LA, it's
hard to
distinguish one from the other. In a town where the airwaves are
exhausted by the same sounds and repetition, Burly Clyde is unlike
any other
band. Burly Clyde is down home. The music is melodic,
earthy, and raw. It's the
kind of music one actually wants to hear
not only on the radio but live as well.
The intent is simple...
grooving, soulful, real.

Lead singer and writer Buck Johnson (whose real
name
is Burleigh Clyde) hails from the back roads of Alabama. Johnson toured
with his family singing gospel music before he even took his first
step. He was
raised on the music from the South and Delta Blues and
later influenced by
English bands, namely The Faces, The Beatles,
and The Rolling Stones.
Johnson moved to LA in the early nineties and
soon
began jamming with other artists. While collaborating with many friends
and
musicians he built up a camaraderie with his current band mates:
Eric Dover
(guitar/vocals); Ben Morris (guitar/vocals); Shane Solo
(bass); and Denny
Weston, Jr. (drums). They all have recorded or
performed together or separately
with such notable artists as Shawn
Mullins, Five For Fighting, Tal Bachman,
Matthew Sweet and
Jellyfish. When they pulled their considerable talents
together to
form Burly Clyde the magic began.
Johnson learned at an early age how to tear the
house
down and a Burly Clyde show is a present day testimonial to that. Rooted
in gospel and rock with an updated and modern sound, Burly Clyde has
already
garnered a huge following in LA. One can only wonder why
this band has yet to be
signed.
